Cookie Policy
Which cookies we use, what they do, and how to change your choice.

1. What a Cookie Is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Basic functions such as staying signed in do not work without them. Some information we keep directly in your browser instead of in a cookie; we list it in section 6.
2. Strictly Necessary Cookies
Required for the site to work, and set without consent. You cannot sign in or complete a booking without them.
- access_token / refresh_token
- Keeps you signed in. Cannot be read by scripts in the browser.
- x-guest-id
- A random number given to this browser: it recognises the bookings and favourites you make before creating an account, remembers which reviews you marked as helpful and, if you yourself allow analytics cookies, also links your searches and the products you view to this browser (Privacy Policy, section 6). One year.
- x-pending-booking
- Lets you return to a booking you did not finish. About 15 minutes.
- pickrota_attribution
- Ours: the campaign labels of the link you first arrived by (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign and similar), the page you landed on and the site that referred you, so a later booking can be credited to that campaign. 30 days; the first arrival is kept, a later one does not replace it. Holds no identifier of you.
The pickrota_attribution cookie is not needed for the site to work; it is set without consent on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing which campaign a booking came from (Privacy Policy, section 3). The advertising click identifiers (gclid, fbclid) are added to it only if you allow the Marketing category below.
3. Preference Cookies
Remember the choices you made and the place you last looked at; they build no profile of you.
- NEXT_LOCALE
- The site's language. Deleted when you close your browser.
- PICKROTA_DISPLAY_CURRENCY
- The currency you want prices shown in. One year.
- last_interested_city
- The place where the product you last looked at is located, so the home page can suggest that place to you. 7 days.
- pickrota_cookie_consent
- Your choice per category (analytics, marketing), the version of the notice you answered and the time of your answer. Kept for one year, and stored even if you decline — otherwise you would be asked again on every visit.
- pickrota_consent_mode
- Which notice applies to you — "ask first" or "on with the option to opt out" — derived on our server from the country of your connection (see section 7). Holds no identifier. Kept for 24 hours and re-evaluated on every visit.
4. Analytics Cookies
Used only if you allow them. These are Google Analytics cookies (_ga and related) which let us understand in aggregate how visitors use the site.
Besides Google Analytics, we also record the searches made and the products viewed on the site ourselves: for everyone, linked to no one; linked to your browser only if you yourself allow it. The details are in section 6 of the Privacy Policy.
5. Marketing Cookies
Used only if you allow them. They let us measure whether an advertisement led to a booking and let the advertising platforms show you relevant advertisements. Google Ads sets no additional cookie on this site: completed bookings measured by Google Analytics are imported into Google Ads as conversions. Meta (Facebook, Instagram) loads only after you allow this category — nothing of it is on the page before.
- _fbp
- Meta Pixel: identifies your browser to Meta so a booking can be matched to an advertisement you saw. 90 days.
- _fbc
- Meta Pixel: the click identifier of the Meta advertisement that brought you here. 90 days.
- pickrota_attribution (click identifiers)
- The gclid / fbclid of the advertisement link you arrived by are added to our attribution cookie (section 2) only with this permission; the campaign labels in it do not depend on it.
6. Other Information We Keep in Your Browser
Some information we keep in your browser's own storage instead of in a cookie. It stays on your device and is not sent to us by itself.
- Your booking form (booking-storage, pickrota:pending-widget-collapsed)
- Remembers what you entered in the booking form, so it is not lost when the page reloads. Kept until you delete it.
- Your sign-in and e-mail links (auth_user, auth_expires_at, auth_remember, pickrota:url-secrets)
- Keeps you signed in from page to page and lets the links in our e-mails work safely. Deleted when you sign out or close the tab.
- Your preferences (pickrota-wishlist, pickrota_recent_views, language-storage, theme, pwa-install-dismissed)
- Remembers your favourites, the products you last looked at, your language and display choice, and that you closed the app suggestion. Kept until you delete it.
- Measurement markers, only with your permission (ga4_purchase_sent, pr_begin_checkout, meta_purchase_sent, pr_begin_checkout_meta)
- If you have allowed analytics or marketing cookies, they stop the same booking from being reported to Google or Meta twice. Kept until you delete them or close the tab.
- Maps (mapbox.eventData, mapbox-tiles)
- Only when you open a map: information our map provider Mapbox keeps to show the map and count its use, and which is sent to Mapbox. Kept until you delete it.
7. What Applies in Your Region
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or Türkiye, analytics and marketing cookies stay off until you allow them; from any other country they are on from the first page and you can switch them off at any time. When the country of your connection cannot be determined, we ask first.
8. Changing Your Choice
You can change your choice at any time from the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page, per category. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings — but blocking strictly necessary cookies makes signing in and completing a booking impossible.
